Dobele District Rural Partnership

NGO “Dobele District Rural Partnership”
Dobele District Rural Partnership was founded in 2005 with the aim to promote initiative of the society civic partnership thus fostering sustainable development of rural area

The main objectives of the organization:
    to promote community initiatives aimed at the rural area development and local initiative groups of the establishment and development;
     to develop strategies for sustainable rural development and ensure their implementation through community participation;
    to represent interests of rural area development issues at various levels and institutions;
    to attract and coordinate the financial, intellectual and material resources to achieve the objectives of the Partnership to educate and inform people on rural area development issues;
    to organize of different educational seminars and training on issues concerning rural area development;
    to develop cooperation with national, local governmental and non-governmental organizations businesses and other institutions of Latvian and foreign countries.



The highest decision-making body of Dobele District Rural Partnership is General Meeting. For the smooth functioning of the organization a representative authority is established - Partnership Council composed of nine persons elected by the General Meeting. The Council is established under the partnership principle, which states that for each sector (business, government and local governments, NGOs) are elected not more than 3 members.
The activities continually take place with residents and local initiative groups in order to coordinate and advice their work. Also there are promoted and supported the groups of interests work in the countryside, if so they decided to register as associations or foundations, and complement existing networks of Dobele District.
Since 2006, the Dobele District Rural Partnership organizes project tenders for promoting of rural development.
During the period 2006 to 2008 there was developed and implemented Dobele Partnership Development Strategy "Improving the Quality of Life in Rural Areas". The implementation of the Strategy was assured by European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Latvian state budget in total 94 804,90 LVL with implementation of 31 projects.
Now Dobele District Rural Development Strategy 2009-2013 implementation is assured in the Partnership area. The total financing attracted for the implementation of the Strategy is 605 376,62 LVL.
In order to ensure the realization of the Dobele Partnership objectives, the partnership also participates in various international projects.

The Dobele District Rural Partnership is located on the southern part of Latvia with very fertile agriculture lands, covering territory of 163 thousand hectares with 38 000 inhabitants. The administrative division forms of 3 Dobeles, Tervetes and Auce local authorities.
