Democracy in tuition and school community is one
of the basic requirements for the development of
EU-citizenship. Only in a democratic environment
can the learners develop the competences which
enable them to take part in social and political life.
The aim of this Comenius 2.1 course is the development
of methods and strategies for the foundation
of active citizenship and further development of
tuition and learning culture.
Target groups:
• Teachers
• headteachers
• teacher trainers
Objectives:
• promote participation in classroom/school/society
• extend and generate strategies and methods
which support the development of active citzenship
• build up competences and qualifications which
enable students for participation and social engagement
• Deal and get aware of stereotypes: how do we see
ourselves and are perceived by others
• initiate transnational projects
(Comenius 1 - school projects)
• get to know the school system of the host country
(hospitations) and the region
Topics of this international course:
• testing and further development of
teaching modules (results from the
Comenius 2.1-project EUBIS) topics:
service learning, social learning, extra curricular
learning, feedback culture, development
of competences for active citizenship,
identity formation
• testing and further development of the
Civic Portfolio as a means of reflection and
evaluation
• exchange of experience: participation in
Europe, especially in the home countries of the
course participants
• school visit with hospitations
Teaching language in this course:
The main language of the course is English.
Teaching materials will be provided in English
and German.
